The Mandela Effect - "There's a guy works down the chip shop, swears he's Elvis..."

The Mandela Effect, it’s freaking me out. Seriously freaking me out. I have to thank that other synchro blogger http://synchromysticlunatic.blogspot.co.uk/ for revealing this strange anomaly in the space-time continuum. Something that completely passed me by until now.

I first became aware of widely recognised ‘False Memory Syndrome’ back in the 80s when I use to read tons of books and articles about UFOs, the paranormal, and occult.

I once foolishly completed a survey about false memories and their possible link with the abductee phenomenon, only to be contacted by some shady group with headquarters in the middle of a Wiltshire village who wanted me to come along and see what they ‘do’ there!

A false memory is the psychological phenomenon wherein a person recalls something that did not happen. False memory is often considered in legal cases regarding childhood sexual abuse

Putting aside my misguided youth for a moment, I recall many events from the 1980s which still, to this day, I believe to be true. My experience of this suddenly in vogue paranormal ‘syndrome’ dubbed ‘The Mandela Effect’ can be demonstrated with two (what I thought were well-known) stories. Stories which have reappeared in my consciousness. They’ve been triggered by the recent media ‘celebration’ of the 20th Anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Diana's supposed last photo
Firstly, for those who maybe unfamiliar with ‘the Mandela effect’ here is a brief explanation by that other paragon of virtuous half-truths Wikipedia…

In 2010 this phenomenon of collective false memory was dubbed the "Mandela Effect" by self-described "paranormal consultant" Fiona Broome, in reference to a false memory she reports, of the death of South African leader Nelson Mandela in the 1980s (rather than in 2013 when he actually died), which she claims is shared by "perhaps thousands" of other people. Broome has speculated about alternate realities as an explanation, but most commentators suggest that these are instead examples of false memories shaped by similar factors affecting multiple people, such as social reinforcement of incorrect memories, or false news reports and misleading photographs influencing the formation of memories based on them.

I know that the Mandela Effect is real because of these two striking memories that myself and entire family remember as happening. Even though we are now told by the media that we have falsely remembered them.

One is the sad passing of Kirsty MacColl from Cancer before 2000, the other, the untimely death by drug overdose of Boy George’s old musical friend Marilyn.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirsty_MacColl
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marilyn_(singer)

The fact that we are now being told that this is not how they died, and actually Marilyn is still alive, comes as a sort of mindfuck. A bit like the 2010 movie Inception, starring Leonardo, where you think you know exactly what you know, only to be told (and shown) that what you believe is totally false!

Now this is what the Mandela Effect purports to be. How it works is a whole other story. Recently, after being so freaked out by the revelation that this condition even has a name, then finding out that thousands are suffering and believing it to be some kind of parallel universe or time shift occurrence that nobody noticed. Well, I’m far from believing this.

I have a more terrestrial view of this ‘syndrome’. After discussing with family the fact that Kirsty MacColl died in a crazy boating accident that could well have been murder (another mystery) and that Marilyn is alive and kicking, but no longer in heels, I’ve come to the controversial conclusion that Shock! Horror! The media has been lying to us. Lying to us all along and literally changing history for its own sick agenda, bit by tiny bit, over the years. Seriously, this is the only rational explanation. Knowing that most ordinary people get their information directly from the TV and Print/IT media, it is not a difficult leap.

Everything we know, that hasn’t been handed down to us by word of mouth, has been delivered to us by some form of media.

Now, there are a lot of people out there investigating The Mandela Effect and purporting to be able to prove a time-shift or parallel universe conundrum. I’ll say it again, everything we know has been told to us by someone else in the media. Therefore, you cannot rely on it fully.

So prolific has this Mandela Effect become that they are even making a movie about it, due for release in 2018.

I know that the Mandela Effect cannot be because we’ve crossed over into a parallel universe or that some time-traveller went back to 1984 and changed something. There are people out there right now that believe this; they even believe the earth is flat and that we’re living under a dome. I digress. We have misremembered things…things that aren’t really important in our own lives at all. They are things generated by the media. The collective unconscious has taken these memories and jumbled them about a bit with a little help from that media. The question we should be asking is why?

I have a third memory, which is a vivid memory from my childhood which I mentioned before when discussing false memory syndrome. It’s the Wizard of Oz story, the very end, where Dorothy is back in her black & white bed. I recall her open the bed covers to reveal the fact that she was still wearing the ruby red slippers and so therefore Oz was not a dream but real afteral…but we all know this is not what happens at the end of this movie.

I am simply remembering what I ‘thought’ was going to happen at the time, and not what I eventually saw or experienced. The memory stored was my ‘thought at the time’, NOT the reality.

I think there is a clue in there somewhere to explain the strange workings of the mind and memory.

Commercial logos for Fruit Loops versus Froot Loops really means nothing in the scheme of things. As advertising agencies and artists change, companies change, and people make mistakes and don’t notice the small things until they are pointed out to them.

When it comes to someone actually dying though, it’s a different story. I believe the Mandela Effect is very real. What causes it is still a mystery. It’s like that conspiracy theory about Elvis still being alive out there somewhere, living it up with the other Marilyn. No one of sound mind believes that to be true…then again…

WESTALL 1966… The Real UFOs or Just Synchronicity?

I stumbled upon this Westall (Clayton) UFO incident while trying to kill my insomnia, by binge watching the Sci-fi channel at 3.00am.

This story is another strange one, with the usual unexplained intrigues and sinister elements. There are links with secret experiments, government cover-ups, nuclear black projects, aviation secrets, and infamous ‘men-in-black’ (or this case blue).

Why don’t we know more about the Westall UFO sighting of 1966? This is the niggling question about one of Australia’s most vivid close encounters. With over two hundred witnesses, quite a few still living, media involvement, government and military involvement, we hear relatively nothing about it. Barely a word in the annuals of Ufology, for years, why?
Roswell eat your heart out!
Wikipedia gives a slightly inaccurate summary of the event: The Westall UFO encounter is an event that occurred on 6 April 1966 in Clayton, Victoria, Australia.

Around 11:00 am, for about 20 minutes, more than 200 students and teachers at two Victorian state schools allegedly witnessed an unexplained flying object which descended into a nearby open wild grass field. The paddock was adjacent to a grove of pine trees in an area known as The Grange (now a nature reserve). According to reports, the object then ascended in a north-westerly direction over the suburb of Clayton South, Victoria, Australia

Below is a ‘must watch’ documentary, in four parts, giving a compelling account of what happened back in 1966. Naturally, answers to the mystery remain elusive.

Interestingly, there are some fascinating synchronistic elements to this.  For example, the Australian Synchrotron. It’s is a 3 GeV national synchrotron radiation facility located in the very same place, Clayton, in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, which opened in 2007
Synchrotron nears completion
The Australian Synchrotron is a light source facility (in contrast to a collider), which uses particle accelerators to produce a beam of high energy electrons that are boosted to nearly the speed of light and directed into a storage ring where they circulate for many hours. As the path of these electrons is deflected in the storage ring, by either bending magnets or insertion devices, they emit synchrotron light. The light is channelled to experimental endstations containing specialised equipment, enabling a range of research applications including high resolution imagery that is not possible under normal laboratory conditions. Wikipedia.

On April 5th 1966…The first Congressional hearing about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) was convened in Washington, before the House Armed Services Committee, chaired by U.S. Representative L. Mendel Rivers of South Carolina. The request for the Congressional investigation had been made by House Republican leader (and future U.S. President) Gerald R. Ford of Michigan.

On April 7th 1966… After an 80-day operation, the United States finally recovered the hydrogen bomb that had been lost off of the coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. After being raised from the sea by a winch, the bomb was loaded onto the rescue ship USS Petrel and shipped back to the United States!

On April 8th 1966… NASA launched its first Orbiting Astronomical Observatory, OAO-1, with detection instruments that would measure stellar ultraviolet radiation without the interference that ground-based telescopes faced on Earth. Unfortunately, the spacecraft's batteries were depleted two days after the launch, after a high-voltage arc when powering up the trackers.

Some people have come up with the usual suspects of weather balloons, and government nuclear secrets, or black projects. It could be, but then again who really knows?

Armageddon of Artificial Intelligence – Musk's Alpha and Omega of AI Doom?

Musk with obligatory Terminator - T3 (from Rise of the Machines)

When a tall dark handsome stranger tells you that artificial intelligence will kill you, you have to stop and listen.

After a chance encounter in an airport cafĂ© with an AI tech insider, I’m left wondering if I should put away my smart phone and tablet, and disengage from the net. Surely the technological Armageddon, that I often talk about can’t be that close? Can it?

Recently, Elon Musk, tech guru/SpaceX CEO/super-entrepreneur- reiterated his view that AI will lead to the destruction of the human race. How strange it was then to find myself having a similar conversation with someone intimately connected with the very subject.

Putting aside the fact that this rather good-looking be-suited individual ordered a milkshake and pizza in a gourmet establishment (sure sign of geek genius) I was enamoured enough to listen to what he had to say (in an Australian accent) and not just stare blankly into his dark eyes over my avocado salad.

I admit, I did at one point lose my faculties and start eating with my hands, while he spoke about computer learning, BOTS and predictive analytics. He mentioned the AI of the future destroying our lives, but much sooner than anyone expects. I thought of my own cognitive awareness, and how Terminator 2 Judgement Day is a great movie!
Drone Wars?
Seriously, not being very computer literate, I can still see the difference between programming a machine to do a task, and being able to use my own common sense and instinct to discover how something works, without the manual. Can machines do that yet?

The fundamental question is, will robots replace us?

If robots become self-aware, and AI becomes an everyday living-breathing thing among us, will there come a time when the machines will decide to correct the errors they see around them…namely, in the best sci-fi tradition, humans and their many faults. This is when we’re in peril.

Perhaps Elon Musk et al are right afterall, we should regulate, and be proactive in the area of AI research. Control it before it controls us.

I’m always telling people how I remember school, and what we were taught about a future utopia of a three-day working week, plenty of leisure time, due to computers taking over all the menial tasks. Freeing us to enjoy our paradise life on earth… well obviously someone lied!
Alas...
The idea of driverless cars is good, but I don’t want to forget how to drive a car. I also don’t want to get in the car and be told where I should be going. A drone delivering mail is okay, as long as it’s not recording me in my underwear in the garden. Furthering that, I don’t want it to monitor every time I’m in the garden, or in my underwear!

The idea of writing a letter, or communicating with my own voice, is still preferable to sending an emoji, updating Facebook, or telling it with an instagram pic using a predictive text comment.

The other obvious one is... the Elites getting rid of all the workers who make everything for them, or the ‘assistants’ that do everything for them, or the soldiers that protect them… can they? What becomes of us if they do?

I’m not very good at building mechano robots, programming, or playing with code…. but I guess I could learn if I had to. What else will there be to do?

A fundamental risk to civilization!

Finsbury Park Terrorist... or just a white van man from my home town?

London's latest terrorist - Darren Osborne of Weston-s-Mare!
Synchronicity on a very personal level really has been kicking in lately. I’ve found myself, more than once, travelling through the very multi-cultural part of Bristol City, on my way back from the hospital. Recently, while stuck in major traffic, I pondered that perhaps there would be more localised copy-cat terror attacks because of all the Islamophobia in the media lately.
Armed Police in Finsbury Park, London

Yesterday, I found myself stuck in Easton, the part of Bristol which now has anti-terror police patrolling the Jamia Masjid Mosque. What a target for the racists and others.
Seven Sisters Road, London 2017

Travelling back from the area by train, I encountered more anti-terror police and security checks at my local train station -for the first time ever. Usually, you don’t see any kind of policing at all. In fact, they only recently closed the local cop-shop and relocated out of the town.
Lonely Weston Station... until Glastonbury Festival approaches that is!
All of this extra security was due to a massively popular tourist event, the annual Weston Air Festival, where, hot off the hoof from Buckingham Palace and the Queen’s birthday, the Red Arrows showcased their fabulous display of awesome aerobatics, followed by the thundering roar of an RAF Typhoon right over the beach.

Red Arrows doing what they do best
My small home town used to be mostly forgotten eight months of every year. That’s until local artist Bansky put it firmly back on the map with his ‘Dismaland show’ at the defunct Tropicana. All this publicity, and rise in visitor numbers, is set to ratchet up a notch or two as word just in, the latest London terrorist suspect turns out to be from right here in Somerset.
Seven Sisters Road, London 1960

The media have already descended this evening at his mother’s house, poor woman. Local media have started covering the links between Cardiff, Weston and London.

Finsbury Park, Green Lane, and Seven Sisters Road to be more precise, are all old haunts of my father. Refugees from the Cypriot crisis of 1974 settled in the UK. Many were sent to London boroughs. My father already a fully integrated Brit citizen with years living in the city helped welcome them. Old friends have left now, but fond memories are brought up often about the Greeks, the Turks and the Arabs. I digress…
EuroFighter Typhoon doing what it does best

Old Westonian Darren Osborne, 47, who went to Broadoak School, is the latest right-wing terrorist. I could not imagine a more ridiculous concept than my hometown spawning such a high profile suspect. On reading further, it’s abundantly clear that Darren (I don’t know him personally) is just a disturbed individual. He is, as his mum says (the lady that lives near Tesco, off the Parade) NOT a terrorist.
Map of the Finsbury Park area - People were leaving prayers from various directions, not just the Mosque

Sadly, we will come to see that the media, plus government spin, about this latest atrocious event, will use this guy to further their agendas. Darren, a father of four, now living in Cardiff (quite a multicultural city itself) will awake from his mad stupor as the latest scapegoat for a diabolical agenda that, probably he has no idea of, and has yet to fully play out.

Weston Air Days Festival - Here's one for the Flat Earth mob!
Stay tuned… I hope to hear more from my Broadoak friends about him soon!

Get with the Program!

In June 2015 the authorities in the UK conducted a mock terrorist incident on the streets of London, complete with counter-terrorism officers, marauding Jihadis, and hapless tourists. A day-time drill so they would be prepared for any attack to come. Two years to the day, apparently this predicted event occurred.
